Sauvignon Blanc I feel is many times just written off as a starter white wine— the perception is that it can’t have complexity or some profound identity.. it can’t say that much ‘cause it’s a white wine. It’s Sauv Blanc, right? Yesterday, the team and I tasted through five offerings, one from the U.S. while the others from around the planet. Each taught me something about SB. Each had its own identity and geographic messaging. Each bottle sang its own song and had autonomously distinguished sensory vernacular. Of course we all had our favorites, and we all had own own positions, but it was clear— Sauvignon Blanc can say a lot, you just have to be willing to listen.
